SLAB REINFORCEMENT IN INDIA AS PER IS 456-2000

Generaly slabs 2 types 

1.One way slab :

if slab L*B (4.5m*2m)

larger span L(Ly=4.5m), 

shorter span B(Lx=2m) 

    If    Ly/Lx > 2 (one way slab)

Ly/Lx = 4.5/2 =2.25 >2 so one way slab

2.Two way slab: 

if slab L*B (4.5m*3m)

larger span L (Ly=4.5m), 

shorter span B(Lx=3m) 

      If    Ly/Lx <= 2 (two way slab)

 Ly/Lx = 4.5/3 = 1.5 < 2 (two way slab)
